A Second AngloINFO Midi-Pyrénées

Since its launch in November 2005, AngloINFO Midi-Pyrénées has grown to be the region’s most successful online information resource for English speakers. But the Midi-Pyrénées is a huge département, and so, in response to user request, and after careful planning, we have divided the site to give those of you living in, visiting and owning property in the area a better-tailored and more useful service.

Midi-Pyrénées is the largest région in France; and one of the newest. It has no particular historical coherence and was assembled in the 1970s from a number of former provinces such as Gascony and Guyenne, and the areas Quercy and Foix, each with a distant character (and many their own dialect). Considering the complex history and geography of the Massif Central, and the many identities within the region, we opted to keep the new names very clear and simple.

On 25 August 2011 AngloINFO Midi-Pyrénées became two websites: AngloINFO Midi-Pyrénées South and AngloINFO Midi-Pyrénées North.

Specifically, the sites serve the following areas: AngloINFO Midi-Pyrénées South, for the départements of Ariège (09), Haute-Garonne (31), Gers (32), Hautes-Pyrénées (65), Tarn (81); and AngloINFO Midi-Pyrénées North, for the départements of Aveyron (12), Lot (46) and Tarn-et-Garonne (82).

This division means that each site will be able to provide an enhanced, more comprehensive service to the départements it serves. Each brings you a local directory of English-speaking businesses, locally relevant INFOrmation Pages, a comprehensive What’s On guide and the weekly English language movies for the towns near you, and – last but not least – the very popular Classifieds & Discussions.

Both these websites carry through the heritage of the last few years of AngloINFO Midi-Pyrénées and registered members automatically keep their membership which now applies to both sites.
