Capitalising on Madrid

In February 2009 Danny Wheatley took over AngloINFO Barcelona. Danny, who has spent much of his life in the leisure business with short spells in publishing and the property sector, said at the time, "I'm relishing the prospect of driving AngloINFO Barcelona forward in my favourite city". He claimed that his enthusiasm would be one of the foundations for future success. It seems he was right. AngloINFO Barcelona has grown commercially and in usership, with numbers of pageviews and membership figures rising rapidly over recent months.

This is good news for AngloINFO Madrid as Danny takes over the franchise of this site on 1 September 2009. Of his acquisition, Danny says: "Due to the success and enjoyment I have had with AngloINFO Barcelona and the tremendous synergy between the two major cities of Spain it just seemed a natural progression to launch into Madrid and push the two sites forward together".

Launched in August 2006, the site has been serving expats and English speakers in the city with the directory of English-speaking businesses, the What’s On events guide, the reference INFOrmation Pages and the Classifieds and Discussions, however it’s not been pushed commercially. Now, with Danny at the helm, this is set to change.
