Brain Friendly Revision and Exam Preparation

To share expertise and the practice of brain-based learning with other students Association Sunauxano organises short residential courses in Quinson. Over weekends in the winter term and during the Easter break we provide a programme designed to help students preparing for important examinations (IGCSE/IB).

During their stay with us young people discover more about their incredible brains; explore personal learning styles and multiple intelligences; practice revision and learning activities that match personal strengths; reflect on the process of learning to evaluate the quality of their own revision and understand the significance of diet, sleep, stress and exercise for learning and exam success. Students also have the chance to enjoy the beauty and calm of the Parc naturel régional du Verdon during courses.
Courses are hosted at The Olive Tree International School or the local Gites L'Escargot or La Grande Roquette.
The programme of activities integrates the experience of our teaching staff with materials developed by the University of the First age, the Critical skills Programme ant the Brain Gym ®.

Courses are organised and run by Sally Heaney and Delphine Philip

Summer Challenge Camp

A week long camp to help students struggling in traditional school settings: We aim to help young people take a positive and informed role in the learning process. Activities are structured to give them the chance to experience and recognise all forms of intelligence, to focus on their strengths and learning preferences, to identify useful strategies to boost learning and memory.
By learning to recognise and value learning differences students build self-value and confidence. Personal growth is also nurtured through a daily programme of adventurous sports in the Parc naturel régional du Verdon.

The programme integrates materials and activities drawn from the Critical Skills Programme, Project Adventure and the University of the First Age with the experience of our staff.

The first Camp was hosted in 2004.

The programme is organised and run by Sally Heaney and Delphine Philip with the support of qualified specialist's for adventurous sports. The camp is held at "Les près du Verdon", Campsite in Quinson.

This years programme:

12-19 August 2006

International Friendship Camps

Every summer Association Sunauxano organises a camp which aims to:

  • Unite children of different nationalities and backgrounds in a spirit of community, friendship and adventure
  • Give children the opportunity to develop and grow through the enjoyment and challenge of adventurous sporting activities in the Parc naturel régional du Verdon
  • Help children to learn to work together in collaboration to complete group challenges and tasks
  • To build self-confidence, self-awareness, respect, responsibility and self-direction within a context of interdependence and community membership.
  • To accept and value differences
  • To learn basic camp craft
  • To develop an understanding of and respect for the natural environment

The first camp was held in 2002. Since then children from the international community in France have come to Quinson each summer to enjoy a varied programme of activities. Art, sport, drama and group games are used as effective and enjoyable tools to build a sense of community and nurture personal growth. Over past years children have participated in canoeing, kayaking, rafting, accrobranch, hiking, It's a knock out, string trails, rock climbing, dance...

The programme is organised and run by Sally Heaney and Delphine Philip. Local sporting professionals and organisations provide qualified guidance and supervision for adventurous activities.

The association has its own camping equipment. The camp takes place at the "Près du Verdon" campsite in Quinson.

This year's IFC will be held from 1-10th July, we look forward to hosting up to 24 children aged between 8-16 years.
