Deposit with rental

Hi, We booked a villa back in 2019 and paid deposit as part of the normal booking process.  Unfortunately with Covid we had to move dates several time with the Villa Manager which he accommodate.  Unfortunately the villa that we wanted is no longer available on the renting marking and the Villa Manager doesn't want to refund us the deposit!  Instead he offers us different villa, with different dates or higher price.  We did sign a contract but there is nothing in there about keeping the deposit!Does anyone know what to do in this case?  Any legal advice on how to get the deposit back?Many thanksKevin
