Dengue Fever?

I was just reading a newspaper report about Dengue fever in Thailand. Apparently a lot more cases have been reported aleady this year. I've never heard of anyone getting Dengue here in Bangkok, but wanted to hear if anyone else knew someone who had got Dengue while staying here in Bangkok? Is it something I should be concerned about?pixie

In 2005 there were 1154 cases in Bangkok alone.

Dengue fever is transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which bites during daylight hours. This makes it all the more difficult to avoid.

A friend of mine who lives in Phuket got it soon after a trip to Bangkok. But they could never pinpoint whether she got it from Bangkok or Phuket. It wasn't very nice.

Agreed, not very nice at all.
They are four strains of Dengue.
Catching it once is painful and it lasts about a month.
If you then catch a second strain it gets dangerous
