The Forbidden City
Grand monument to 24 Chinese emperors built in the Ming Dynasty only open to the public since 1925. Seasonal admission charges apply. Open daily from 08:30.
Beijing Police Museum
Museum dedicated to the police with exhibits of police tools of the trade dating back to the Han Dynasty. Open Tuesday to Sunday from 09:00-16:00. At 36 Dongjiamin Xiang, Dongcheng District, Beijing.
Beijing Planning Exhibition Hall
Exhibition hall which contains a miniature model of Beijing, interactive games for kids and a many miniature models. Open Tuesday to Sunday from 09:00-17:00. At 20 Qianmen Dongdajie (just east of the old railroad station), Chongwen District, Beijing.
Agricultural Exhibition Centre
Built in 1959 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Peoples Republic of China and is one of the citys top ten socialist monuments. At 16 Beijing East Third Ring Road, Chaoyang District, Beijing.
Art Museum of Beijing Fine Art Academy
Over 4,000 watercolour paintings from the Song dynasty to contemporary exhibits. Also fine arts events and lectures. Open daily from 09:00-16:00. At 1 Liulitun, Chaoyang District, Beijing.
The Palace Museum
Museum exhibiting priceless artefacts and artworks of the Forbidden City. Open daily from 08:30-16:30 (seasonal variations apply). Admission charge. At Forbidden City, Beijing.
Chinese Aviation Museum
Several hangars displaying international aircraft including the planes used by Mao and a Cold-War era hangar. Open Tuesday to Sunday from 08:00-17:00. Located approximately 40 miles north of Beijing, West of Xiaotangshan Town, Changping District.
Sackler Museum of Art and Archaeology
Art and archaeological museum. Free admission. Guided tours in Chinese and English. Open daily from 09:00-16:30. Closed on public holidays. At West Gate, Peking University, 5 Yiheyuan Lu, Wudaokou, Haidian District, Beijing.
