Just wondered how worried everyone else is about this - I was hoping to travel to the US later this year but not sure if I should postpone it. I know it's not Mexico where the main outbreak is but how soon and how fast will this travel? I heard there is a confirmed case in Scotland where a couple have returned from their honeymoon in Cancun but their symptoms are mild - problem is they came back last Tuesday but didn't go to hospital until Saturday so how many more people could they have infected. I find it seriously worrying and I guess it's just a matter of time before someone lands in Berlin after staying in Mexico ....

Are there any reported cases in Germany?

None that I have heard of. Does anyone know if you can get a refund on travel booked to the US or Mexico?

I saw on Sky news that in the UK the Foreign Office has told people not to travel to Mexico for the time being so travel insurance will kick in for refunds etc.

The German equivalent - Auswaertiges Amt is strongly advising against travel to Mexico: http://www.auswaertiges-amt.de/diplo/de/Laenderinformationen/Mexiko/Sicherheitshinweise.html so if you booked to travel from Berlin and have insurance you might get a refund?

If you're traveling to the US the info is here: http://www.auswaertiges-amt.de/diplo/de/Laenderinformationen/UsaVereinigteStaaten/Sicherheitshinweise.html - they are advising caution regarding contact but not against traveling to the US at the moment.

How effective are the anti-virals??

Yorkshirelass-332884 1241379577

They seem to be pretty effective so far. I heard the Scottish couple who were the first cases in the UK have left hospital and have fully recovered. It seems the cases are increasing everywhere but I read somewhere that you have to be in close contact with an infected person for at least an hour to stand a chance of becoming infected. I found some information here: http://www.dw-world.de/dw/article/0,,4224408,00.html.
