Brussels tourism officials are launching a new drive to attract visitors to the city following last year’s terrorist attacks.
The campaign named “Where will Brussels take you?” is the latest initiative to woo back visitors.Results from tourism efforts in the immediate aftermath of the attacks yielded positive results and now Brussels is looking to build on those early successes. Minister-President Rudi Vervoort explained: “We have witnessed a very clear recovery of tourism in Brussels at the beginning of the year. The campaign ‘Where will Brussels take you?’ represents an additional effort and aims at revealing our region’s hidden secrets – the best and most remarkable of what Brussels has to offer.”
The campaign was launched simultaneously in Germany, Spain, France, Italy, the Netherlands and the UK with the help of the ever popular Brussels-born Smurfs. In addition to the live launch, an online platform, takemeto.brussels has also been set up to enable visitors to personalize their trip. Visitors to the site will find restaurant, cafe and museum recommendations along with the top instagram worthy locations.
The promotional campaign will also give away city breaks to Brussels every week, including accommodation and transportation within Europe.
