Lian (Moi!) arrived here seven years ago at the tender age of twenty-one fresh from city life. I had a normal background, normal job and having been pushed too far at work one day I realised there’s probably a lot more to life than sitting in an office. I then moved to Normandy with 1000 euros in my pocket, not one word of French and a lot of crazy ideas. I met and married a French man within 6 months, which, given our vast cultural differences and lost in translation arguments wasn’t always easy but then led to three children (third on the way), two dogs, two horses, 10 house moves, 4 house renovations and now a new direction towards living as self sufficiently as possible.

Read about me and my travelling circus, sorry I mean family, as we live our day to day lives here as a young couple trying to make a nice life but coming across a few surprises on the way. And oh yes did I mention that I love shopping, gardening, writing, DIY, antique furniture, reading, cooking and that I’m also a semi-final French darts champion – I don’t know why my husband says it’s hard to keep up with me…
