WHAT THE “PUCES” ARE
Les Puces de Saint-Ouen covers seven hectares and is the largest antique market in the world, receiving between 120,000 to 180,000 visitors each weekend.
There are 15 different markets (marchés) at Les Puces, each market has its own speciality and atmosphere, but each has its store of treasures.
Each market has its own identity linked to its dealers and its architecture. From the labyrinthine alleys of the Marché Vernaison to the many stairs of the Marché Dauphine, discover the diversity of the rue des Rosiers, the world’s largest antiques centre.
WHERE ARE THEY?
Just beyond the périphérique ring road that forms the boundary between Paris and her suburbs. Head for the rue des Rosiers, from which you can access most of the markets.
HOW TO GET THERE
Metro 4: Porte de Clignancourt
Metro 13: Garibaldi/Mairie de St Ouen
WHERE TO EAT
There are dozens of great options around the Puces.
Our favourites are: Bonne Aventure with its lovely small roadside terrace, quirky menu and super wine list.
Ma Cocotte by Phillipe Starck with its two (one on the ground floor and one on the first floor) sunny terraces overlooking the “puces”
WHERE TO SHOP FOR….
You will find everything from serious antiques to vintage clothes and décor items.
Our favourite parts of the Puces are:
The Marché Biron – This is a prestigious antique market in the heart the Paris / Saint-Ouen Flea market. High budget art and antiques to admire and to buy. 85, rue des Rosiers 93400 Saint-Ouen
Marché Vernaison – A lovely space, with its tiny stalls and crooked alleyways; perfect for a hunt for that special bargain. 99 Rue des Rosiers, 93400 Saint-Ouen
My Discoveries – Julien Cohen’s shop is like a cabinet of curiosities and can be found at 3 rue Paul Bert 93400 Paris, France.
You, no doubt, will find your own favourites.
WHERE TO STAY at Les Puces
Our favourite is the MOB Hotel As with any Philippe Starck project – expect the unexpected at this hotel situated a 5-minute walk from the Puces: an airbed in every room for a third person to share your room for free; outdoor cinema; roof-top veggie gardens and loads more. As we publish this – a new, bigger MOB is under construction a very short distance from the present address, which is 4-6 rue Gambetta, 93400 St Ouen. (This road runs into the rue des Rosiers where “les puces” are situated – so really can’t be closer to the action)
FLEA MARKET HOURS
Every Saturday from 9h – 18h
Every Sunday from 10h to 18h
Every Monday from 11h to 17h (please note that many stalls close around lunch time)
Try to go on Saturday or Sunday because many dealers aren’t open on Monday, or only open by appointment.
The “Puces” has it’s very own tourist office! You will find it here: 124 rue des Rosiers, 93400 SAINT-OUEN
