The French Riviera is on yellow weather alert (Alerte Jaune) today from midday with high winds forecast throughout the region. The wind should be particularly strong along the coast between Antibes and the Var, with winds of 80 to 90 Km/h and even up to 100 Km/h in some areas, with waves of up to 2 metres possible. In the Var, there is an orange weather alert (Alerte Orange) from 14:00 onwards, with violent winds expected both on the coast and inland.
Check traffic conditions if youre planning to travel on the coastal road between Antibes and Villeneuve-Loubet, as it is likely to close in the afternoon if waves get too high. Inn general a detour is set upe along the RD 6007.
It is advisable to avoid walking along footpaths on the sea front due to the risk of high waves.
In the ski resorts, up to 30 to 40 cm of fresh snow is forecast from 2000m upwards. Beware of icy roads if you’re on the road at altitudes of over 1000m.
