The Alpes-Maritimes is on orange weather alert today due to the high winds throughout the region, today 29 November 2016. The wind should be particularly strong along the coast between Antibes and the Var, with winds of up to 90 Km/h, and waves of up to 4m.
The coastal road between Antibes and Villeneuve-Loubet is closed until further notice in both directions, and a detour has been set in place along the RD 6007. Traffic is likely to be dense there this morning.
Access to the beaches in Nice between Lanterne and Poincaré is forbidden because of the high waves. Access to the footpaths is also closed. Get updates from Nice Matin.
The Promenade des Anglais is closed direction Nice town centre to the airport – a palm tree is at risk of falling over onto the road.
It is advisable to avoid all footpaths along the sea front due to the risk of high waves.
