English films in original version at Savoy Filmtheater

Today, the Savoy Filmtheater opened the doors to the press for the first time since the re-building of the traditional Hamburg Cinema. The Savoy will show exclusively English language films in original version, thus closing the gap that was left when Streit’s cinema closed in March.

With the new concept the owner and cinema innovator Hans-Joachim Flebbe focuses on high comfort, high class cinema experience for the visitors, and important international productions that many visitors want to see in the original version.

Here are some facts about the new cinema on Steindamm 54:


  •  Tickets will cost between €8 and €12
  • 300 seats available in three categories, comfortable leather seats
  •  English language films in original version, some original version with German subtitles
  • Matinee on Sunday in German
  • 4 shows per day
  • state of the art projection and sound technology
  • first show “Man of Steel” on Thursday, June 20

  • located on Steindamm near near central railway station in lively (but not dangerous) area
