For the 13th time, Hamburg museums are opening the doors for the Long Night of Museums. On Saturday, April 13, 53 museums from the small farm “Rieck House” to the extended harbour museum and all the major art galleries will participate in this event, presenting their art exhibitions, historical and scientific collections and workshops.
Visitors can choose their own tour, with the help of the printed programme available at all museums, the website (both only in German) or the web app, and spend the night exploring (from 18:00 until 2:00).
The tickets pf €12 (reduced €8) include the use of public transport between the locations and the use of Stadtrad city bikes (the red ones). Register at www.stadtradhamburg.de of by phone 040 822 188 100 (5 Euro registration fee will be added to the account). HVV buses and lines can be used from Saturday 17:00 till Sunday 10:00. Additionally, there’s a bus shuttle with 10 special lines, please see map below. Alster boats will connect Jungfernstieg and the Work Museum. There is a boat shuttle between Sandtorhöft and Harbour museum on the Elbe.
Many houses are inviting to special events, offering music concerts, guided tours, film, dance and performances or food and drinks. There are “Indian Nights” with dance, fire show and music from India at the Museum für Völkerkunde, the band Skuzzlebuzz on boat in front of the Hafenmuseum and at the Work Museum visitors can climb up into the air on a cutting wheel, and many events more, which are all listed in the programme.
