Strong gusts warning for Friday

Update 10:00: Official storm warning against hurricane force winds for Hamburg has been lifted. Warnings against storm still in place (wind speed up to 90 km/h).

Update 9:30: Storm tide has passed the highest level, all-clear at the Elbe. Some streets remain closed due to flooding.

8:00: Wind storm Xaver passed by Hamburg during the night, bringint rain and sleet. Warnings against severe weather conditions are still in place for Friday, and a warning against thunderstorms was issued this morning.

Storm tide:

In Hamburg, police and fireworkers are preparing for a record storm tide reaching 6.50 m above sea level. The harbour area is closed, and residents and employees have to leave.
