Update 9:30: Storm tide has passed the highest level, all-clear at the Elbe. Some streets remain closed due to flooding.
8:00: Wind storm Xaver passed by Hamburg during the night, bringint rain and sleet. Warnings against severe weather conditions are still in place for Friday, and a warning against thunderstorms was issued this morning.
In Hamburg, police and fireworkers are preparing for a record storm tide reaching 6.50 m above sea level. The harbour area is closed, and residents and employees have to leave.
