Being a connoisseur of action packed films, this one is full of good surprises. When you think you have reached the pinnacle of the mountain, the film will take you one more step further and leave you dangling off a cliff.Flying out over the abandoned landscape come two roaring all-terrain vehicles making a daring rescue attempt on a train carrying a group of young passengers (The Gladers) who are being held against their will. They are immune to a virus, which is wiping out the human population all over the world. Unfortunately the medical/military organization W.C.K.D has decided that they need to perform tests on these subjects to find a cure no matter what the costs.
The film incorporates odd characters, new technology and a great storyline. Thomas is trying to save his old companions who we met in the first two Maze Runner films. Risking his own life various times, he does not give up the hope of saving them. W.C.K.D is holding many of the Gladers captive. Thomas wants to stop W.C.K.D once and for all. This is not as easy as it sounds because they built a giant wall around the city. It is armed with weapons like a fortress.
Director Wes Ball made sure that it is not only action packed but has a story, which can stand on its own two feet. Unlike many other films in this action genre, the characters have personalities; the script will surprise you at every turn, and the unseen enemy will be sneaking up, right when you are settling down in your seat. It’s unclear if it will be the monster-faced rebels outside the walled city or the medical teams holding the syringes which will be making you scream in your seat or the love story that sets of sparks which may leave to grieve consequences, but in any event this film is definitely worth the money. It might even be interesting to read the novel by James Dashner for a comparison. It is full of action great and has a great storyline. You don’t even have to see the other two films to understand this one. Be prepared for a scare and a surprise. (Adrian and Shelly Schoeneshoefer)
