The upcoming Boekids Festival in The Hague is for children of all ages, with activities related to culture, music and literary works. It takes place Tuesday to Sunday, 10-15 March at the Paard van Troje (Prinsegracht 12).
Between Tuesday and Friday, kids can meet scientists and authors at the Boekids University and learn about Sport & Science with author Fiona Rempt, Space Travel with Hans van der Lande, Philosophy with Stine Jensen, Psychology with Prof. Daniël Wigboldus and Astrology with Govert Schilling.
On Saturday , 11-16 year olds can attend a children’s book launch with Yakanuko, performance by Amsterdam hip hop singer and producer Jayh, as well as the Dutch band Zomaer, DJ Billy the Kit and Lady Bla Bla at “B.Rebel”. There will also be a Poetry Slam with poets like Diann van Faassen and Harry Zevenbergen (both from The Hague).
They also get to take part in a DJ contest: the winner will get the opportunity to perform together with DJ Billy the Kit! At Rijm word rap! (i.e. rhyme becomes rap!), Guus van der Steen and Janneke Nijhuijs (The Deaf) present “Write it Down and Spit it Out“. Anna Woltz will read her book “Hoderd uur nacht” in the dark with impressive sound and light effects. And if they are looking for a new hairdo, they can go to Headz for Hair.
On Sunday 15 March (12:00-17:00) the whole family can choose among workshops (Dag! Boek, Light Paining, Graffiti Wall, De langste tekening (the longest drawing), Yakanuko, Manon Sikkel, Start een script met Marly van Otterloo and De Poëziemachine or attend many interesting shows.
