My name is Joey Bonura, I am from Louisville, Kentucky and this is how I ended up in Panama:
For college I started at the University of Louisville and while I was there I became good friends with some of the students that studied there from Panama. Since I had a curiosity to see the rest of the world, I decided that I wanted to see Panama. So I booked a trip with my new Panamanian friends and spent two weeks exploring the country. This led to a few more trips to Panama and then eventually I made the decision that I wanted to finish the rest of college there. In 2011, I sold my car and furniture then packed my life into two suitcases and bought my one-way ticket.
Since I have been here I have done an internship at a multinational, gotten pretty good at Spanish, been in a few Panamanian commercials, and will be graduating from Empire State College (one of the American universities that has a Panama campus) in June 2013. I also brought my dog Riley here and he loves the hot weather!
I have really enjoyed my time in Panama and I hope that by sharing my experiences and what I have learned, that other people will like it as much as I do. Be sure to check out my other blog PTYlife for more updates on my life in Panama.
