It became known to the Club that the parents of the kids attending the CASLAS school in Lagos, are saving an amount each month, making it possible for these great kids to make their first long bus trip to Lisbon and visit Kidzania
The children are very enthusiastic to visit this famous Portuguese theme park, but could save the full amount needed. Especially the bus was a big hurdle.
The program was presented to our Club by one of the parents and all our members agreed that we should use our, still modest, charity fund to make it happen for them.
The 11th of May, the Club’s president and a small delegation visited the CASLAS school in Lagos, were met by the vice president, Sr. Joao Bravo and the directora tecnica, Sra Ana Ferro and the enthusiastic, well behaved kids.
The wonderful, excited children performed some national and international songs, after which LC de Lagos’ president had the pleasure of presenting the cheque for the lacking amount, to CASLAS vice president Sr. Joao Bravo. A happy moment for school and Club. We’re wishing the kids a memorable trip and visit to Kidzania.
Now established as the only English speaking Lions Club in the Western Algarve, with motivated and dedicated international members, we’re enjoying the friendship and social activities, next to the fundraising events, gradually creating a charity account, enabling us to start supporting small scale projects.
Internationally Lions surpassed the 1.4 million member mark at the end of October 2016, the largest we’ve ever been, thanks to members from all over the world believing in Lions and motivated to serve.
