Hello fellow expats!! My name is Karissa Olson, I’m an Interior Designer and mother who’s been living in Lisbon for 6 years. I am from the United States, Minnesota to be exact (brrr). My blog “Expat Life in Lisbon | Becoming a Local” is exactly what it claims to be; an informative collection of writings from my own experiences here in the city to help you transition into life as a local and make the most out of what Lisbon has to offer.
My experiences here range from learning Portuguese, dealing with missing our families, meeting people, studying in a University, birth & motherhood, exploring Lisbon as well as weekend/week-long vacations in all of the other amazing areas of Portugal.

As someone from an artistic background, I also blog about local art, design and architecture; hidden gems that not many tourists know about and not many locals have even been to.

Above all, my blog posts are always something I hope will benefit other expats.
