A Brief Account of My Expatry

Hello fellow Lisbon expats! As a new blogger on AngloINFO Lisbon it only seems natural for me to tell you a bit about myself and my expat story.

This is me

This is me

I was born and raised in Minnesota, USA where I lived until I was 20. Very, very small town. 7 years ago I met my now husband online, he is a native of Portugal and has lived in Lisbon since birth. 6 years ago I took the plunge, uprooted from everything I ever knew and moved here.

As soon as I learned some basic conversational Portuguese, I enrolled in a private Decorative Arts college here in the city called Escola Superior das Artes Decorativas, where I studied Interior Design and graduated with a licenciatura (bachelors degree) in 2013. Immediately after graduating I gave birth to our beautiful half Portuguese half American son who is now a rambunctious, bilingual 21 month old toddler. Since his birth I have been a stay at home mom.

And now I have been given this awesome opportunity to blog here on AngloINFO Lisbon, which I have been a member of for years now. This is pretty special for me since this site has helped me in many ways with my transition into Expat life.

My blog will cover a variety of topics in which I have experience as an Expat here, such as motherhood, lifestyle, dealing with long distances, education, arts and music, where to shop, eat, drink, travel and relax, just like the local Lisbonians.

I´ve loved Lisbon since the very first moment I set foot here. I have a strong passion for this city,  it´s left its mark on me and will forever hold a special place in my heart.

Please feel free to follow me, give me feedback, ask me questions or even request blog topics!

The good weather is coming and that means alot of really good recomendations on how to enjoy it! I look forward to getting to know you all 🙂
