Lasagna it’s life-saving lasagna !!! if like me you finished your New Year celebrations at 4:30 AM
We attended the New Year celebrations with a group of friends at the Areias de Sabores restaurant in Figueira da Foz (on the coast to the west of Coimbra)
The food was amazingly good with a grand finale of the view from the open air terrace of the midnight fireworks which were stunning. So a good night was had by all.
On the journey home I was feeling a little under the weather when I remember the Indian BBC TV presenter Reza Mahammad and chef saying that when he was at boarding school he and his friends did not like the food so they would make their own dahl and he described it as a life-saving Dahl I now fully understand what that means.
Lasagna was defrosted and eaten on new years day around 3 PM it is one of those things that really pulls you back together after a heavy night/morning. Not that we were hungry of course the food at the restaurant was very good. I particularly like the way the chef creates innovative flavors which are well-balanced.
Located on the beach next to the small lake on the seafront we were very close to our hotel – thank goodness.
The fireworks at Figueira da Foz were very very good indeed I just wish my phone could do them justice. We stood on the terrace and watch them for maybe for 15 minutes a superb display.
The next day we were leaving our hotel and walking to our cars when we came across the Figueira da Foz classic car club https://pt-pt.facebook.com/caaff.pt/who were having a rally with some beautiful cars. the only trouble is the one I really liked sells for between 60,000 and £2 million.
Looks like I had better keep doing the Euro Millions.
