Walking our dog in the Rabacal valley at the weekend and as we were having the first hot day of the year we decided to give the dog a chance to cool off in its favorite part of the river near a small ford.
This is how the river looks normally.
It is mid March and 25 degrees very nice indeed .
The valley is a beautiful place to walk.

We had quite a surprise when we got to the fording point as we found it looking like a river of flowers.
It reminded me of how the streets are decorated with carpets of petals at the Maca de Donna Maria festivals.
Maca de Dona Maria is in the council area of Alvaiázere, central Portugal and can be fount at these co ordinates.

Although the river looks beautiful when in flower within a week it will be as dry as a bone and all the plants dead again until next year.
