On the third floor of busy Holland Village Shopping Centre is Roy’s Master Tailoring, a well-established outfitter that has been helping locals and expats dress well for years. We caught up with Roy himself at work, to hear his point of views on fashion, shopping, and how to talk Singlish.
Tell us about your products/service
We do bespoke tailoring for both men and women, and we also do alterations.
How long have you been in business and why did you choose this sector?
It was a family business, and the experience was passed down to me. We have been around now for 22 years.
What is the thing you like most about your work?
Satisfied customer: I love meeting people and making them happy.
Which different nationalities are your clients?
We get customers from all over the world: France, Germany, England, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway and Australia, as well as may from the Insead Alumni.
What do you think they love best about living in Singapore?
It’s very organised here, everything is so well planned.
What do you like to do in your time off?
I most like to relax by spending time with my family.
What is your fondest memory or proudest moment at work?
I loved it when I worked with the team that won the 2012 Olympics for London.
Which product or service is your best seller and why?
Most popular are the suits that we make for interviews and graduation ceremonies.
