Voting (courtesy of Brian Cave)
1 RepliesThe Overseas Voters Bill has just been published http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/bills/cbill/2015-2016/0043/16043.pdf It is due for a second reading in the House of Commons on 26 February 2016. It is a private member’s bill, not obviously connected with the proposed Government Votes-For-Life Bill which has not been tabled. Mr Chope MP and others introduced this Bill on 7th July last. It is most significant that the second reading has appeared at this time. It is very short and would remove the 15 year limit on voting, thereby restoring voting rights to all UK citizens resident abroad, which could make it possible to participate 100% in the Referendum.

I don't think that it'll achieve Royal Assent in time as I think it'll have to go to the Lords first. I wouldn't hold out too much hope of a vote in the EU Referendum if you're just relying on this Private Members Bill.
