Counselling in English Nadia Fakhouri

Mental health counsellor based in Malmö, Sweden, with over 10 years experience providing counselling to teens and adults in a warm confidential environment. Skype sessions with flexible hours available for international clients.

What I offer:

I provide a safe, warm and confidential environment where the needs and goals of the clients are addressed at the pace of the client.

Using an integrative approach I bring together concepts from various counselling models to fit the client, believing that each person is unique and that no one model can fit every person, facing every difficulty, within every context. It views the person in his or her entirety and aims towards wholeness and integration of all aspects of that person – thoughts, emotions, sensations and behaviours.

One of the main approaches I integrate is person-centred counselling that emphasises the value of the therapeutic relationship and focuses on helping clients to tap into their resources and to re-launch the natural process towards reaching their full potential.  I also have experience with cognitive behavioural techniques and body-focused work including mindfulness.

Counselling can help with:

- Adjusting to different environments and stages of life

- Managing stressful and anxiety-producing situations

- Building self-esteem and confidence

- Understanding and adjusting problematic dynamics

- Developing mindfulness of distressing emotions and sensations

- Processing grief and loss

- Regulating behavioural responses to emotions

About me:

I am of Swiss and British nationality living in Sweden with my husband and son. My mother tongue is English. Before moving here, I lived in Switzerland and had my private practice there. I had international schooling and grew up in different countries. Having the opportunity to work in a multi-cultural environment has added value to my role as a counsellor by providing me with a sensitivity and openness to different cultures, expats and  “third culture kids.” As well as working in private practice, I have experience as a counsellor in an international school working with teenagers, their parents and teachers.

My training:

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology (Honours) from University of Nottingham and a Master of Arts degree in Mental Health Counselling from Webster University, Geneva. I am a member of the Swiss Association of Counselling (SGfB) and the Swiss Society of Psychology (SSP) and abide by their ethical code of conduct and requirements for continued education and supervision.
