Where to buy in Costa Blanca

Hiwe are thinking of taking the plunge and buying a holiday home in Costa Blanca. We want somewhere not too far from Alicante airport, somewhere not buzzing but with a bit of life, within walking distance of a nice beach, pretty, scenic and somewhere that wont cost a fortune. Is that possible ? Also any pros and cons very much appreciated and any estate agents/solicitor recommendationsWe are just looking for somewhere for us and friends to use and maybe occasionally rent outmany thanksRuby

Hi Ruby

From those specifications I would look at Santa Pola or Gran Alacant (if you prefer a more international group of people). Santa Pola is currently remarkable affordable and has life all year round as it's a Spanish town. The port area is lovely  and it has 3 beaches.

Regarding agents we have only dealt with 'Market' really in that area. They speak English in there and have a lot of properties in an around the area.

Another agent to look at would be Casas Manuel based in Benijofar. They cover lots of areas and are really nice.

Or the Olive Tree in Pinoso are good too.

We have always used Fontanals as our solicitors. Everyone there speaks English and we pay around €120 a year to have them on a retainer for any advice we might need and do our fiscal submission for us. Their conveyancing fees cost around €1000.

Daniel I keep on seeing bank owned properties that seem too good to be true. We are complete novices when it comes to buying in Spain, should we avoid these or are they as good and as cheap as they look ?
