You have what is considered one of the best primary schools in the area on your doorstep in Isla Plana. They have a nursery where as long as your 3 year old is toilet trained can attend for free. Go to the Social Club & on the right hand side you will see a small office which is the for the Town Hall of Cartagena (Isla Plana is in the Cartagena district not Puerto Mazarron) apply for your padron, you will need this for school but if you speak Spanish pop up to the school and introduce yourself sooner rather than later as the school term has been under way about 3 weeks.

You will find most if not all of the village's under 6s here. They will be your child's future classmates so may as well meet them now, he/she stays in this nursery until compulsory school in the term when they are 6.

If you need help email me your mobile or land line number & I will ring you.

As for your posting about a job.... afraid I dont have a magic wand... good luck on that front.

I would recommend that you come along to the CAFE Concert 3 tomorrow in Bolnuevo. This would be an excellent opportunity to meet local residents and make new friends as up to 1,000 people are expected to attend throughout the day.

for directions follow this link to our Maps page and type in Zaira as the address and Bolnuevo as the city. It will be well signposted on the day.

For full details of the event follow this link to our What's On Guide

For additional information tune into Costa Calida International Radio on 90.00 and 100.00FM or listen online at

There is a fantastic little nursery in Playasol, the correct side of Puerto de Mazarron for you - Half the Spanish kids in the town have been through there doors. Cost is approximately €80-90 for 3 hours a morning 5 days a week.

Send me a private email i will give you some contact details or can take you there for a meet. Its all in Spanish, a couple of the ladies there speak a little English.

Elsewhere there is a nursery at Siglo XXI a school behind the Repsol garage on the way into the Port but its very expensive.
