We are living in the Camposol area near Mazarron, having been here for just over six months, we have 2 boys aged 12 & 13 both at Mazarron school. We are looking for some help in finding what there is to do in the area for kids as the eldest is getting bored with not many kids around and not much to do...apart from the obvious....pools and beach!! Are there any clubs, groups that go on? Where do the kids hang out/play ...or don't they? My eldest is quite sporty, but still has basic Spanish, so misses being part of English teams etc. Are there any English groups who play locally - Tennis/Basketball/table tennis/indoor football? I would gladly help set up or run a group for teenagers to do any of the above if anyone else is in a similar situation. Anyone with any ideas, please get in touch at juliannorth@hotmail.co.uk. Apparently there are the deadly "blue bubbles" Portuguese Man o' war in the sea off the coast of Murcia for the first time in 10 years and they are worried they may colonise. For those who are unaware - they group in schools look like floating blue bubbles, have tentacles that are up to 30M long and can be deadly to people who are alergic to stings and young people.

Can anyone recommend a good Spanish brand sun cream? ie something cheaper than the overpriced "named" brands but that will still do a good job as I'm quite fair skinned.

We have recently formed an “Access for All” project and have initially broached the subject with San Pedro del Pinitar Council who have welcomed our input in their on-going plans to improve the town, over the next few years. The Mayor already appreciates the problems experienced by elderly and disabled residents and visitors, as well as Mums with prams coping with high kerbs & bad crossings and so on and will include our group in any relevant future discussions which is very heartening. Obviously it is hoped we will be able to discuss the project with other towns in the Mar Menor eventually. It´s early days yet but we do hope HELP can make a difference in the future. A meeting has also recently taken place with the Mayor of San Javier where our project was well received. To help us with this project it would be to our advantage if any particularly bad access point is observed, if you would let us have the information to be passed on to the relative council, purely as an observation. We DO need volunteers to collate all the information in order to be informative & effective.
