Monumento Nacional Guayabo
The park and the monument was created in 1973 and is one of the largest archeological sites in Costa Rica, with many unexplored areas to be discovered. Located in Cartago Province, 60 miles east of San Jose.
Museo Filatelico Numismatico
Philatelic and numismatic museum of Costa Rica with a wide collection of stamps, and historic coins and bills. Open Mondays to Fridays 08:00-17:00. Located at 2nd St., between 1st and 3rd Ave., at the Central mail building, Downtown San Jose, San Jose.
Templo de la Musica
Monument set within the grounds of the Parque Maorazan in San Jose. Located in Calle 7, San Jose.
Museo de Cultura Popular
Old coffee house, plantation, which belonged to a former Costa Rican president. The different rooms in the museum depicts the family life in Costa Rica. Located in Santa Luciade Barba de Heredia. Open Mondays-Fridays, 08:00-16:00.
National Park San Jose
National park with many walkways, gardens and monuments. Located 10101 San Jose.
Museo de Arte y Diseno Contemporaneo
Art and design museum with contemporary art exhibits by national and Latin American artists. Coffee, souvenir shop, and documentation center. Open Mondays to Saturdays 10:30-17:30. Located at 13th St., between 3rd and 7th Ave. Downtown San Jose, San Jose
Santa Rosa Historical Museum
Small museum within the Santa Rosa park complex, housing an exhibition of antiques and information from trails around the site. Open from 08:00-16:00.
Museo de Arte Costarricense
Costa Rican art museum with permanent and temporary exhibits by decades and artistic periods. Theatrical expositions. Open Tuesdays to Fridays 09:00-17:00, Saturdays and Sundays 10:00-16:00. Located at the Old Airport building in La Sabana Park, San Jose
Municipal Museum of Cartago
Museum of Cartago displaying photographic work, included amongst these are photos of the restoration work of the museum. Located at Calles 2-4 Av 6, Cartago. Open Monday-Saturday 09:00-16:00 and Sunday 09:00-15:00. Entrance is free.
Museo de Insecto
Displaying a range of insects, from the more unusual to the most common. Open Monday-Friday 10:00-16:45, Entrance fees are as follows: ¢500, students ¢200, tourists ¢1000. Located in the University of Costa Rica, San Pedro, San Jose.

Criminological museum (Museo de Criminologia)
Formed in 1981, dedicated to topics of crime. located in the supreme court of justice, avenidas 6-8, calle 17, San Jose.
