Villard de Lans
The biggest nature reserve in France of more than 17000 hectares. Unspoilt scenery, thousands of sheep. Guided walks possible including overnight trips with guides and accommodation. Consult the Tourist Office in the village, Villard de Lans (38).
Les Grottes de Balme

Chartreuse Regional Nature Park
Hiking and walking is the main activity in this vast national park. There are a number of marked circuits available with orientation maps and information. Downhill skiing, cross country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter.
Telepherique de Grenoble Bastille
From the heart of Grenoble take a ride and see marvellous views of the mountains. Runs year round weather permitting but hours vary. Contact the office at Quai Stephane Jay, Grenoble (38).
Chemin de Fer de la Mure

Chateau de Vizille
Magnificent chateau built between 1600 and 1619. Large artistic collections on display as well as history of the French Revolution. Gardens also. Seasonal opening. At Vizille (38).
