I am a seasonal worker in Switzerland, have a UK license. My license was stolen, but I still need to drive. I still have the paper part of the license, but realise that the UK is the only country to have this, so it might not be enough. Does anyone know if I can drive with the paper part, or do I need to stop driving until I can get a replacement of the whole thing? Thanks
I arrived in Geneva in June. i am still trying to adapt to the totally new life. My friends recommend this website to me and i finally can search and ask question in English. I am learning French, but it is so difficult. I just read that people with foreign driving licence must to changed t a local one within 12 months, is this true? what procedures shall i follow? thank you to whoever reads this and gives me a reply.
Hi, We will soon be moving to Switzerland from the UK. We will be buying a new car but are we better off buying it in the UK or Switerland. If we bought it in the UK could we claim back the UK VAT? Or would this be counterbalanced by the cost of Swistai port taxes? We are looking at it possibly being a 4x4 - incase that makes a difference. thanks
Hi, Does anyone know where I can hire a 4x4 for a short term without insurance? I'm going to be in Switzerland for two months (March and April) promoting a new business, the vehicle will be used comercially and we'd therefore prefer to cover the complexities with our own insurance. Cheers, Mike
Hi everyone, I just moved to Geneva to intern for the summer and do a semester exchange at a university for the fall. I just applied for my carte de legitimacion which I was told could take 4 weeks or something and will only last until the end of july. i'm currently working on getting my student visa worked out so i'm not sure when that will arrive. so i'm wondering if it will be a total nightmare for me to buy a motorscooter, register it, and insure it. how does one go about registering a vehicle. is it possible without the carte de legitimacion? i saw something on the forum about temporary plates... thoughts? best, kan
I want to buy a car for the first time and I am looking for a dealer that can not only help me with a car, but also help with all the paperwork, driving lessons, obtaining a licence etc. In other words, the whole package. I am not looking for a new car but a good small used car. Can anybody suggest a good (English speaking) used car dealer in Geneva that offer a total service? Thanks
