I'm thinking of trying snowshoeing and am looking for recommendations for trails and places to rent equipment
There is a great website that lists trails here http://www.sentiers-raquettes.ch/
Also there are some snowshoe events being organised by Active Mates.
You can find more info here http://geneva.angloinfo.com/information/whatsonwhat.asp?Cat=4
or on their website http://www.active-mates.com/
We went snowshoeing with a very professional group called GuideSource a couple ofttimes in the past 2 winters. We highly recommend them. They are guided by certified alpine guides, not hiking guides, and they taught us amazing and surprising things aboutavalanches, animal tracks, etc. I recommend you not go snowshoeing without a guide like this at least once, since quite a few people get caught in avalanches around here each year. The GS guides also teach avalanche safety programs at local Genevas schools, so they are quite good. They have a website (www.guidesource.com) and we emailed them at (email@example.com). Tell them the Thompsons sent you!
