Short-term working visa (Visa técnica de trabajo)

It is possible to get a working visa for a period of fifteen days, though this format is becoming obsolete. Requests for such a visa must be made to the National Immigration Directorate. The following documentation is required:

  • Valid passport
  • Application form (provided by the consulate)
  • 4x4 cm photograph
  • Proof of return flight
  • Proof of payment of consular fees
  • Proof of sufficient funds for period of stay
  • Letter with all relevant information from the employing Argentinian company

Temporary residence visa (residencia temporaria)

This type of visa is suitable for non-permanent residents working in Argentina. It is generally granted for a period of up to one year and may be renewed for an equal period. The following documentation is required to apply for a temporary residence visa:

  • Valid passport
  • Application form (provided by the consulate)
  • 4x4 cm photograph
  • Proof of return flight
  • Proof of payment of consular fees
  • Proof of sufficient funds for period of stay
  • Employment contract
  • Comprehensive information supplied by the employer, detailing the company's legal status, insurance, social security and tax payments

Visa for employees with specialized skills (Científico y Personal Especializado)

This visa applies to employees hired for specific jobs in both the private and public sector, ranging from scientific research to commercial and industrial activities.

The following must be provided:

  • Employment contract
  • Legal information about the company
  • The company's status with regard to payment of all appropriate taxes, insurance and social charges
