Leaving Argentina with a Pet

Information about the restrictions and requirements when leaving Argentina with an animal…

SENASA lists the requirements for the export of live animals from Argentina. In order to export an animal, an International Veterinary Certificate must be obtained from SENASA. It can be obtained from the SENASA Lazareto Capital Quarantine Station in Buenos Aires or any other SENASA office throughout the country.

  • Lazareto Capital Quarantine Station - Buenos Aires
: Dársena Sur, Elvira Rawson de Dellepiane s/n y Av. Calabria, in the port of Buenos Aires

Three requirements need to be met in order to obtain an International Veterinary Certificate:

  1. All dogs or cats over the age of three months must have been vaccinated against rabies.
  2. A private veterinarian with National or Provincial Registration must have issued a Health Certificate that certifies that the animal meets the necessary sanitary conditions.
  3. All necessary fees must have been paid to SENASA.

As requirements for importing animals vary greatly between countries, it is advisable to obtain all necessary details from the authorities of the destination country. Many countries may require a lengthy period of quarantine or may not allow the pet to enter directly from Argentina.
