Third party liability motor insurance is compulsory by law for anyone who owns a motorbike or car. Insurance can be obtained from insurance companies in Azerbaijan. It usually covers repairs, on-the-spot accident assistance and car removal, and damage assessment. Car insurance premiums are often based on the model and age of the car, as well as on the driver's age.
The fine for driving without car insurance for the person driving is AZN 10.00, while the legal owner is fined between AZN 150.00 and 200.00.

Insurance companies provide information about the risks which they cover and offer services such as car maintenance, help at the scene of an accident and post-accident damage assessment.
Making a Claim
In the event of a car accident, the driver is given a report from the police at the scene of the accident. This report is then needed by the insurance company for their assessment.
The maximum amount paid for vehicle insurance by law is AZN 55.000, while the maximum amount paid for third parties’ car repairs is AZN 5.000 and for medical bills is AZN 5.000.
