Brazil is the largest country in South America, and the fifth largest country in the world. It consists of one federal district, which encompasses the capital city of Brasilia, and 26 states.

The primary language of Brazil is Portuguese, which is commonly spoken throughout the country. There also exist several hundred indigenous languages and dialects that are still in use by Brazil’s remaining tribal population.

The population of Brazil (based on estimates from 2010) is approximately 190 million, making it the sixth most populated nation in the world.
