Mains and Bottled Gas

Find out how to get connected to Bulgarian gas suppliers...

Gas services for residential customers are gaining popularity in recent years. Mains gas distribution networks are still confined to major cities and the villages surrounding them but are now undergoing a process of expansion. Households in Bulgaria use gas mainly for cooking, heating and hot water.

Overgas (Овергаз) is the main private gas retailer in Bulgaria with the largest network of regional distribution companies in the country.

Getting connected

For properties already connected to the mains gas supply, go to the local Customer Service Centre and request for the meter to be read and the account transferred to the new occupant's name.

If the property is not already connected, the following procedure is required:

  1. Submit a "Request for connection of the facility to the mains gas network"
  2. Sign a connection contract

The required documents are:

  • Proof of identity
  • Plan of the gas installation by a licensed gas technician
  • Title deeds of the property, or in case of tenancy, a notary certified approval of the owner. This is provided by a Notary Public (the property owner and tenant arrange an appointment with a notary where the owner signs a declaration of consent on the agreed installations).

Gas meters are read each month by company employees. Bills are sent by post at the beginning of each month and customers pay for their individual monthly consumption usually within a 10-day period scheduled by the company.

Payment is made in one of the following ways:

  • At a local Overgas Customer Service Centre
  • Via
  • At a cash point/ATM machine

Disconnecting/moving services
