Understand the basics of Canada at a glance...

Canada is the world's second largest country. It is situated in North America and stretches from the Atlantic Ocean, in the east, to the Pacific Ocean, in the west. Its land mass is 9.9 million square kilometres and it has a population of approximately 31 million (according to Citizen & Immigration Canada).

The majority of Canadians live in towns and cities, with more than 80 percent living in the southern region of Canada, less than 300 Km away from the US border. The capital city of Canada is Ottawa and the national flag of Canada is representative of some of its national symbols; the colours red and white and the maple leaf. The Canadian national sport is ice hockey and the majority religion is Christian.
