Enrolling a Child in School

Information on the school enrolment procedure in China...

Local schools are open to foreign students and registration is done at the selected school. To enrol a child, the following documents are required:

  • Residence registration
  • Copy of parent's work permit
  • Certified health record for the child
  • Child's passport

It is recommended that children have some knowledge of Mandarin before starting at a local school as tuition is in Mandarin. If not they may be held back.

Fees

Foreign students, unlike Chinese citizens, must pay for local education. The cost for local schools is cheaper than private international schools.
