Finding Employment

Information for jobseekers on finding employment in China...

Due to the tight visa regulations, many people who want to work in China already have a job offer. The two main ways to get a job in China before entering the country are through a specialist recruitment company, or by approaching companies direct, either in response to advertised vacancies or speculatively (or, conversely, being approached by a company with a job offer).

It is possible to secure a job having entered China on a non-work visa, or to change jobs once there. Vacancies are advertised on expatriate websites or through local recruitment agencies. However, foreigners who are looking for a job in China tend to find that networking is the best way to get noticed, as relationships and contacts (guanxi) are an important part of doing business in China.
