Colombia Public Holidays

A calendar of the national vacation days when businesses, schools, government offices and banks may close and most people get the day off in Colombia...

Because of its Catholic background, Colombia observes many religious holidays; some are fixed dates, for example 25 December, some are moved to the following Monday to make a three day weekend, so as not to break the working week in half. This is known as Puente.

Colombia has the second highest number of holidays in the world, with a total of 18; 12 of these are religious and six are civic holidays. Because of this, the country also ranks as the tenth country in the world with the most paid holidays.
