Parking Regulations

Information on the parking regulations in Costa Rica...

In urban districts, areas marked with the letter E surrounded by a red circle, often with the words con boleto, indicate a parking space that requires a ticket. Tickets can be purchased at the local municipal hall. Fines can be high for parking without a ticket.

On-street parking is often hard to find in urban areas. Parking in public car parks (parqueos) is considered a safer option.

Do not park:

  • In front of garages
  • Next to yellow kerbs
  • In front of driveways
  • Where there are signs saying No Estacionar (No Parking)

Parking fines

In order to pay parking fines or any other multas, take the ticket to a National Bank.
