When the children are on holiday: the school term dates you need to know in Cyprus...
The Cyprus school year follows the three term system with vacation breaks in summer, the Christmas/New Year period and the Greek Orthodox Easter period falling in spring. Most private English-curriculum schools have a mid-term break of one week in October and February.
- The school year includes registration days
- Some primary schools named after a Saint are closed on the corresponding Saint's day
- Schools are closed on the Archbishop's name day
- The Minister of Education and Culture (MOEC) may choose to change the dates for educational benefit reasons
- The school year can officially begin on any of the first ten days of September. The exact date is set each year by the Ministry of Education and Culture.

Secondary School Dates Check with the relevant school. The MOEC publishes lists of contact details for public schools (Gymnasia and Lycea)
