Produce Markets

The pedestrian streets of central Copenhagen have many stands selling fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as flowers at reasonable prices.

Israels Plads in central Copenhagen is home to one of the biggest fresh produce markets in Copenhagen. It is situated next to the Nørreport station.

Torvehallerne, which opened in September 2011, is the biggest fresh produce market in Copenhagen, offering all kinds of fresh food products such as fish, vegetables, meat, bread, cheese, cakes and Danish specialities, as well as flowers, spices, chocolate, coffee, tea, Spanish tapas, Italian products, French cheeses and Asian specialities. The market is open every day except Monday.

Flea Markets

There are several flea markets around Copenhagen, which are mainly open during the summer months. The markets are full of old jewellery, vinyl records, antiques and cheap clothes.

Ravnsborggade (Ravnsborg Street) in the district of Nørrebro has many antique shops, which set up stalls outdoors on Sundays. A flea market takes place on the street one Sunday in September, and a Christmas market is also held on one of the Sundays in November.

Some of the main antique and flea markets are:

  • The Frederiksberg Flea Market: Located behind the Frederiksberg City Hall, open from April to October
  • Kongens Nytorv: Arts and crafts market held next to the Royal Theatre every Saturday from May to September
  • Gammel Strand Antique Market: Located by the old canal in central Copenhagen and selling antiques such as Royal Copenhagen porcelain and silver. The market is run by professional antique dealers every Friday and Saturday from 08:00-18:00 during the summer
  • Horsholm Flea Market: Located north of Copenhagen and offering a wide variety of items such as furniture, clothing, and jewellery. The flea market takes place in the east side of the car park at the Horsholm Midtpunkt shopping centre. Open from April to October
  • Lyngby Flea Market: Flea market with approximately 80 stalls, selling a large selection of children's wear, shoes and furniture. Held every Sunday from May to September
  • Østerbro Flea Market: Held by the parking lot at Svanemøllen and open on Sundays from 09:00-16:00 between May and August
  • Gentofte Flea Market: Takes place every Sunday from April to October behind the Charlottenlund S-train station. Private individuals can rent stands for garage sales
  • Vanlose Flea Market: Takes place on the square in Vanlose every Saturday from 09:00-16:00 from April to November.
  • Ørestad Flea Market: Situated next to the Field's shopping mall, open on some Saturdays during the summer between June and September
  • Israels Plads: Situated near Nørreport Station, this is the oldest flea market in Copenhagen with many objets d'art and quirky antiques
  • The Grey Market: An indoor market near Buddinge subway station, selling clothes, furniture and electronics every Saturday and Sunday from 10:00-16:00
