Teenagers and Alcohol

Information on Danish drinking regulations as they affect teenagers…

Danish teenagers have one of the highest records of alcohol consumption in Europe. Almost all young Danes have tried alcohol by the age of 15 or even earlier.

The legal age for buying beer and wine is 16, and 18 to buy spirits. Proof of identity which contains a photograph is required.

There are English-speaking Alcoholics Anonymous meetings held in Denmark for those for whom alcohol has become a problem.

There are also Al-Anon and Alateen meetings, held in Danish.
