Teenagers and Employment

Information on the opportunities and regulations for teenagers to work in Denmark…

Teenagers may work from the age of 13 onwards, but they must have parental permission if aged under 18. They may not work for more than 12 hours a week during the school week and no more than 35 hours a week during school holidays. The minimum age for full-time employment is 15, after completing nine years of compulsory education.

Under 18s still in full time education may not work between 20:00 and 06:00, however, exceptions apply for certain jobs, for example work in restaurants, cinemas and some other entertainment venues. They must have a minimum of 14 consecutive hours of rest per day and two consecutive rest days each week.
