Daily Meals

Find out about mealtime customs at breakfast, lunch and dinner in Denmark...

There are three main daily meals in Denmark: breakfast (morgenmad), lunch (frokost) and dinner (middag).

While breakfast and dinner are generally made and eaten at home, lunch is usually a packed lunch or taken in a café or restaurant. Many restaurants offer an "eat as much as you can" lunch buffet.

Breakfast often consists of buttered bread served with cold cuts, jam or cheese. Danish pastries, often served at weekends come in a variety of forms and are called wienerbrød. Cereals and porridge are also popular choices at breakfast.
