A Danish employer usually pays a salary into an Easy Account or NemKonto.

Easy Account/NemKonto

Most residents in Denmark receive payments of some kind from the public sector. These payments can be tax refunds, child subsidies, pensions, student loans, unemployment benefits, housing support or social welfare payments, and they are all paid into an Easy Account.

Private companies are also able to make payments into a NemKonto/Easy Account, for example, insurance and pension companies.

Everybody in Denmark - private citizens and companies alike - must have an Easy Account or NemKonto, which is a bank account already in use and which is then specifically designated as the Easy Account.

Setting up an Easy Account or NemKonto

There is no need to open a new account. Instead, decide which existing account is to be the NemKonto/Easy Account.

An Easy Account can be set up in one of the following ways:

  • Contact the bank and state which account is the designated NemKonto/Easy Account
  • Go to the NemKonto website and type in a new account number
