International Citizen Service

The Danish government provides assistance to foreign residents via its International Citizen Service (ICS). Information is available regarding residence permits, accommodation, employment, taxes, social security, health care, child care, driving and other aspects of moving. Assistance is provided with submitting required paperwork. The Danish Immigration Service, Danish Tax and Customs Administration, regional and local administration, Workindenmark and other organisations are represented at ICS. The service is available in four cities in Denmark: Copenhagen, Odense, Aarhus and Aalborg.

Citizen Service Centres

In addition to the International Citizen Service Centres are Citizen Service Centres (Borgerservicecentre), which issue Danish passports and offer help with the online KVIK Self-Service system for completing many administrative tasks via the internet. A personal NemID, available at Citizen Service Centres, is required to access the KVIK system. The KVIK system is only available in Danish.

The Danish Immigration Service

New to Denmark (Ny i Danmark) is the official portal for foreigners and integration administered by The Danish Immigration Service (Udlændingestyrelsen). The Ny I Danmark website has information on residency, healthcare, tax and legal issues, housing, finding a job, learning Danish, banks and insurance, salary, pension and working conditions, education, cost of living and Danish culture, norms and values.

Danish Central Tax and Customs Administration

The Danish Central Tax and Customs Administration (Skatteministeriet - SKAT) is the Danish government body responsible for collecting taxes and duties. The tax office website provides an English-language website with information regarding tax, customs and duties in Denmark. Vehicle registration and taxation is administered by SKAT.
